Governor Announces $120 Million for Drinking Water Infrastructure

Zero communities with unsafe drinking water. Let's get it done.March 5, 2019

Today, Governor Whitmer released her budget proposal placing a priority on infrastructure for both roads and water infrastructure. For fiscal year 2019, the Governor is proposing $120 million of water infrastructure funding to support communities across the state with implementing the new Lead and Copper Rule, responding to contaminants such as PFAS, addressing aging infrastructure, and supporting research and innovation for drinking water technologies.  While legislative support is still needed for the proposal, the recommendation is a great step toward moving Michigan forward with addressing infrastructure needs across the state and assuring safe drinking water for all residents.
