Today, the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) officially begins its journey to protect the environment for future generations. Created by Governor Whitmer’s Executive Order 2019-06, the new department combines the former Department of Environmental Quality, Office of Great Lakes, and Michigan Agency for Energy.
Last week, the new green and blue EGLE logo was revealed. The logo was designed to represent Michigan’s land and water resources. It also features a wave across the letters to reflect the connection between the environment, energy, and the waves of the Great Lakes.
The 1,200 member EGLE team includes dedicated Michiganders from across the state who are focused on ensuring that Michigan communities remain vibrant. Collaboration, communication, and a commitment to protecting public health and the environment are the hallmarks of the team as they embark on this new journey.
