Early Childhood Standards of Quality Birth to Kindergarten Public Comment

Public comment on the proposed Michigan Early Childhood Standards of Quality for Birth to Kindergarten is now closed. Submissions are being reviewed and considered for the recommendation to the Michigan State Board of Education.

The Michigan Early Childhood Standards of Quality for Birth to Kindergarten will be used to support the growth and development of all children birth through kindergarten throughout the state. It also will support early childhood professionals in recognizing individual developmental trajectories and expressions of learning, and to guide programs toward improved quality in their operations.

The standards were updated to support Michigan’s Top 10 Strategic Education Plan. This set of standards will replace Michigan’s current Early Childhood Standards of Quality for Infant and Toddler Programs and Early Childhood Standards of Quality for Prekindergarten, and will inform program development, program quality evaluation, and continuous improvement efforts at Michigan’s educator preparation institutions.

The draft version of the Early Childhood Standards of Quality Birth to Kindergarten used for public comment can still be viewed.
