How Do I Register?
Michigan has adopted the Federal Trade Commission's Do Not Call Registry as the state's Do Not Call list. When you sign up with the Federal Registry, you are automatically placed on Michigan's Do Not Call list. Some telemarketing calls will still be allowed under exemptions in the law.
Registration is FREE and can be completed in two ways:
You can now register for the Federal Do Not Call Registry at the Federal Trade Commission's website. The on-line registration process requires an active email address. If you register on-line, the Federal Trade Commission will send you an email message with a link in it. You need to click on the link in the email within 72 hours to finalize your registration. You may need to provide limited personal information for confirmation. If you do not have an email address, you can register by phone.
You can now register for the Federal Do Not Call Registry by dialing 1-888-382-1222 from the telephone number you want to register and following the prompts.
Consumers with rotary telephones can also register by dialing 1-888-382-1222 but must first allow the recorded message to play almost through to the end. Near the end of the recorded message, the recording will advise you to say "1" if you wish to register your telephone number. Clearly say "1". The recording will then ask you to state your telephone number. Clearly state your area code and telephone number. The recording will verify the number you are registering and ask you to say "1" if the number is correct. If the telephone number stated by the recording is correct, clearly say "1".
