March 18, 2014 - The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today approved an 8 percent rate increase for intrastate services rendered by Michigan Movers Association (MMA) members, effective April 1.
MMA on April 19, 2013 provided the MPSC with notice that it, on behalf of its member carriers, was requesting the increase to Tariff 4000, the first in seven years.
In approving the request, the MPSC found the proposed rate increase to be just and reasonable. It also directed the MMA to file in this docket a proposed training schedule on tariffs, as directed by the MPSC staff.
All carriers of household goods must be licensed by the MPSC. For tips on hiring household goods moving company to move items within the state, the MPSC has a helpful consumer tips sheet and information guide.
The MPSC is an agency within the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.
