LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan Public Service Commission has launched a redesign of its website to provide for a more engaging user experience as the agency continues its efforts to promote transparency.

The new website, at, was designed to enhance general usability and engagement with utility customers and external stakeholders. It allows visitors to easily access information related to their energy and telecommunications services. The redesign supports Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s directive for all state agencies to be open, transparent and accountable to taxpayers.

“More than 165,000 people visited our website last year, and we want those visitors to have the best experience possible,” MPSC Chairman Sally Talberg said. “Maintaining open communication with external stakeholders and the general public is one of the Commission’s goals. We will continue to enhance our website going forward so it serves as a valuable resource for Michigan residents and businesses.”

The MPSC website allows users to:

  • Learn about the MPSC’s role and the energy and telecommunications industries the agency regulates;
  • File a utility complaint or submit an inquiry to MPSC Staff;
  • Obtain information on utility bill payment assistance;
  • Easily locate consumer tips on safety, energy efficiency and other areas;
  • Access service provider information and utility program information;
  • Track case filings as regulatory matters come before the Commission and its staff;
  • And learn about the Commission’s activities such as upcoming meetings and events and how to get involved in workgroups or participate in cases.

The redesigned MPSC website is part of the State of Michigan’s overall effort to improve its digital interactions with the public. Websites for state agencies have been redesigned so that they deliver information constituents seek in simple, intuitive and accessible ways, in a theme that’s consistent across state departments.
