LANSING, Mich. – “I’m very pleased HUD recognized the overall vision and shared commitment to this project by the city and its state, public, private and nonprofit partners. Our financial investment – an allocation of $1.5 million in federal Low-Income Housing Tax Credits annually (for 10 years) to the first phase – will help rewrite the standard for affordable housing in Flint.
“By all measures this and other significant investments will improve the quality of life there, whether for the Atherton East residents who directly benefit by moving from a distressed area into new homes in Clark Commons, or the nearby residents who have a more vibrant neighborhood with future economic development opportunities.
“Transformative projects like this will help Flint build on its affordable housing infrastructure and continue the city’s forward momentum.”
