Informational Bulletin 24-04

The Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division is announcing two hazard mitigation funding opportunities for Michigan communities and tribes:

FY24 Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC)

The BRIC program provides funds for hazard mitigation planning, building code enhancement, and hazard mitigation capacity building activities as well for implementation of hazard mitigation projects. Hazard mitigation activities are intended to reduce or eliminate future property damages and/or loss of life from natural hazards, such as floods, tornadoes, and storms. Grants are funded with a 75% federal share and a 25% local match (which may include cash, third-party in-kind services, materials, or any combination thereof).

FY24 Flood Mitigation Assistance Program (FMA)

The FMA program provides funding to help communities reduce or eliminate the risk of repetitive flood damage to buildings and structures insured under the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), and within NFIP-participating communities. Depending on the activity, Grants are funded with a 75% federal share and a 25% local match, 90% federal share and a 25% local match, or 100% federal share.
