Michigan Hazard Mitigation Plan: National Flood Insurance Program Participation

Michigan participates in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and has many communities with NFIP eligible properties.  The Community Status Book contains the current list of locations.  The Community Rating System (CRS) is an additional incentive program that recognizes and encourages floodplain management practices that exceed the minimum requirements of the NFIP.  Flood insurance premium rates are discounted in CRS communities to reflect their reduced flood risks.

The following reports represent only a representative snapshot of available data regarding Michigan’s NFIP and CRS participation.  Current information is available through the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy.
