Teenage Defensive Driving Program - Lower Peninsula

"Train Like a Trooper" (1/2 Day)

Teenage Defensive Driving is a 5-hour program aimed at the teenager. The curriculum includes 4 hours of hands-on training and 1 hour of online instruction.

The areas covered in class and reinforced during practical exercises are:

  • Defensive driving
  • Skid control
  • Serpentine
  • Controlled braking
  • Evasive maneuvering
  • Confined area maneuvering
  • Off road recovery (emergency)

Class size is limited to 16 students to allow a 2-to-1 student/instructor ratio.

Michigan State Police patrol vehicles will be provided for all driving exercises.

Wait lists are maintained for current and following year only. 

Tuition: $75

Time:  
Morning session - 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
             Afternoon session - 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
             Please choose one session on your preferred day.

Students should arrive promptly 15 minutes prior to class start time

Dress Code:
Appropriate attire for a professional experience.
Baggy low ride jeans, flip flops or inappropriate T-shirts are unacceptable.
Tennis shoes and fitted jeans are acceptable.

Prerequisite:
(Mandatory for successful completion of program)

Must be a fully licensed GDL Level 2 driver between the ages of 16-19.
