The Michigan State Police Sault Ste Marie Post is gathering new and gently used purses and bags filled with comfort items to benefit survivors of sexual assault. Suggested items include toiletries, feminine hygiene products socks and undergarments, snacks and gift cards.
Donations are being accepted through April, which is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, at the Sault Ste Marie Post located at 3900 I-75 Business Spur, Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783. The post hours are M-F from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The purses stuffed with items will benefit Diane Peppler Resource Center and be distributed to survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence in Chippewa and Luce counties.
