James Johnson, Chief of Staff
James Johnson joins the MVAA after working as Chief of Staff for then-Senator Adam Hollier as well as Outreach Director for Congresswoman Brenda Lawrence. Johnson is pursuing a bachelor’s in conflict resolution from Wayne State University.
As Chief of Staff for the MVAA, Johnson will serve as a liaison for the agency with legislators and work closely with staff to align the department’s priorities with the visions of Director Hollier and Governor Whitmer. He will also work to strengthen and grow relationships for the agency with key stakeholders.
Born and raised in Pontiac, Johnson lives in Southfield with his wife Nikia and son James III. He’s an avid football fan (Roll Tide!) and reader of history and biographies. Johnson works with numerous charities and advocacy groups to raise autism awareness.
