MVAA Grants
The Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA) administers a variety of competitive and non-competitive grants to veteran servicing organizations across the state. In Fiscal Year 2025 (FY24), MVAA distributed and administered more than $10 million in grant funding to 81 participating organizations.
In addition to granting funds to eligible organizations, MVAA provides emergency assistance to eligible military veterans and their families. For more information about available programs, visit the MVAA Emergency Assistance website.

Statewide Veteran Service Provision Grant (SVSPG)
The SVSPG is a competitive grant that is intended to increase the number of veterans applying for service-connected disability compensation, the number of VA health care enrollment applications, and the number of all other benefit claims. In FY25, more than $4 million was distributed to four participating organizations.
Who is Eligible?
The SVSPG grant is limited to organizations that are either recognized by the federal Department of Veterans Affairs Office of General Counsel or those that hold a congressional charter and can employ state-accredited veteran service officers to prepare claims for benefits administered by the federal Veteran Benefit Administration.

County Veteran Service Fund Grant (CVSPG)
The CVSFG is a non-competitive grant that seeks to enhance and improve county veteran service operations to connect veterans to their federal benefits. It also seeks to help provide consistent access to these services to veterans across the state. In FY25, more than $4.7 million was distributed to 68 participating counties.

County veteran service departments.

Michigan Veteran Service Organization Network Grant (MiVSONG)
MiVSONG is a competitive grant that that helps empower eligible organizations to ensure a no wrong door approach to reaching veterans and their families. This helps reduce barriers for education, healthcare, employment, quality of life, and to connecting veterans with their federal benefits. In FY25, $9,000 was distributed to three participating organizations.
Who is Eligible?
Established Michigan Community Action Teams (VCAT) or, in the absence of an established VCAT, non-profit Veteran Service Organizations. Currently, one MiVSONG grant is available per Michigan prosperity region.

Michigan Veteran Homelessness Prevention Grant (MVHPG)
MVHPG is a competitive grant that assists those service members, veterans and their families who are experiencing, or who are at risk of experiencing, homelessness. In FY25, $1,500,000 was distributed to six participating organizations.
Who is Eligible?
Michigan-based non-profit organizations or a selected fiduciary whose primary mission/purpose is to serve veterans in any capacity.
