Outdoor Adventure Center Scout Programs

Virtual badge workshops

While the Outdoor Adventure Center is closed due to COVID-19, we are offering select Cub Scout and Girl Scout badges virtually! Each scheduled badge workshop will be a live program with an OAC educator. Virtual programs may include a mixture of real-time instruction or interaction using OAC materials, pre-recorded demonstration videos, and/or opportunities for scouts to interact verbally or through chat boxes.

Some badges may require an additional activity to be completed on your own or outdoors with your troop, such as required hikes. However, content in the virtual program will help to prepare scouts for any of those activities. Additionally, upon registration you will receive a document to help you prepare for your virtual program that will include information about any additional activities.

Each virtual program is scheduled in advance for Tuesdays beginning at 4 p.m. (see below), and scouts may be registered individually for the program. A minimum registration of eight scouts will be required for each program to take place. The cost of the program will be $2 for each scout.

Account creation: A family account will need to be created online if you haven’t already. Family memberships should already be in the database. We advise using a computer rather than a mobile device to view all options. View this document for step by step instructions.

Payment methods: You can pay your invoice with a credit card (VISA, MasterCard) by logging into your account, by calling the OAC during open hours or at the front desk during open hours. For your online security, do not email your credit card number. Private badge workshops do not need to pay in advance.

Refund policy: To receive a refund, contact the OAC staff by email (DNR-OAC@michigan.gov) at least three days prior to the workshop. This allows others an opportunity to register.  Without this timely notice, a refund is not available.

Guest Information

Supervision: During a visit through the Outdoor Adventure Center, children MUST always be accompanied by an adult.  When a child climbs into the middle of the tree, he/she will end up on the second floor.  An adult will need to meet the child on the second floor.

Parking: Complimentary parking can be found in our gated lot at St. Aubin and Atwater. Street parking is limited, and there is a strict “ticket and tow” enforcement for parking violations. Please advise your guests to be sure they are in a legal parking space to avoid problems.
