The Office of Global Michigan seeks proposals for Kalamazoo and Grand Traverse County for the federally required refugee medical screening program.
The selected provider will ensure a comprehensive medical screening to newly arrived refugees to ensure communicable diseases of public health importance and other health issues are recognized and treated. They will also oversee administration of immunizations as necessary and make referrals to local health care providers for follow-up. Medical screenings must be initiated within 30 days and be completed in no more than 90 days after the refugee's U.S. arrival. A domestic health screening form will be provided, and all medical screening data must be entered into the Michigan Disease Surveillance System (MDSS). Close collaboration and partnerships with the local refugee resettlement agency, Bethany Christian Services, and health department is essential. The resettlement agency will refer clients for the medical screening.
