Any successful sustainability program must include reducing, reusing, and recycling. Michigan has been a leader in recycling since 1988 when it was one of the first states to initiate paper recycling in state owned buildings. Since then things have only gotten better. In 2018 the state officially expanded its recycling program to include plastic, glass, metal, and more. Expansive recycling programs not only reduce landfills but also helps preserve our natural resources. Governor Whitmer is committed to leading by example in recycling and decreasing landfill waste.
