What Is MET?

A presentation to explain the features and benefits of MET.

What is MET?

MET is a 529 prepaid tuition savings program which allows you to pay for future higher education at today's price. MET is flexible, transferable and even refundable. MET is specific to tuition, it does not pay for room and board or books. Depending on the beneficiary's choices, MET provides:

  • Prepaid tuition and mandatory fees at any Michigan public university and community college upon admission.
  • Funds from a terminated MET can be directed to a Michigan independent (private), out-of-state college or trade school.
  • Refunds can be made if a beneficiary decides not to attend college.

Legacy of Learning

Leave a legacy of learning. You don't have to be the parent of a child to start saving for their future education. Aunts, uncles, grandparents and friends of the family are all welcome to start saving for a child's education with a MET 529 prepaid tuition program. In fact, 20% of new MET contracts are purchased by grandparents.
