Gov. Rick Snyder makes reappointment to the State of Michigan Retirement Board

LANSING, Mich. — Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointment of Dave Sawyer of Grand Rapids to the State of Michigan Retirement Board. 

Gov. Snyder signed Executive Order 2015-13 which consolidated retirement boards under the supervision of the Department of Technology, Management and Budget (DTMB), through its Office of Retirement Services. The board provides oversight of the three systems that service nearly 88,000 active and retired employees. 

“I thank Judge Sawyer for his continued commitment to overseeing Michigan’s retired state employees,” Snyder said. 

Sawyer is a judge for the Michigan Court of Appeals (3rd District). Previously he was a Kent County prosecuting attorney, as well as assistant Kent County prosecuting attorney. Sawyer holds a bachelor’s degree in public administration from the University of Arizona and a law degree from Valparaiso School of Law. He will continue to represent one member or retiree of the Judges' Retirement System.

Sawyer will serve a four-year term to expire Dec. 31, 2021.
