Gov. Rick Snyder makes reappointment to the Human Trafficking Health Advisory Board

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointment of Subburaman Sivakumar of Northville to the Human Trafficking Health Advisory Board.

The nine-member board is housed within the Department of Health and Human Services. The board collects and analyzes information concerning medical and mental health services available to survivors of human trafficking, identifies state, federal and local agencies that are involved with issues relating to human trafficking, and coordinates the dissemination of information concerning medical and mental health services available to survivors of human trafficking in Michigan.

“I thank Subburaman for his commitment to ensuring survivors of human trafficking have access to resources needed to recover from their trauma," Snyder said.

Sivakumar is the president of Subburaman Sivakumar Medical Group and medical director and CEO of Michigan Academic Hospitalist Group. He is also part of the teaching faculty at St. Mary Mercy Hospital and the medical director of Advanced Home Health Care. Sivakumar holds a medical degree from Tirunelveli Medical College (Tirunelveli, India). He will continue to represent individuals licensed to practice medicine under part 170 or 175 and serve as the nominee of the Senate Majority Leader.

Sivakumar will serve a four-year term expiring Dec. 31, 2021. His appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
