Saturday, November 24, 2012: Small Business Saturday

WHEREAS, Small Business Saturday is a day dedicated to supporting small shops and local businesses that create jobs, help boost the economy and preserve neighborhoods throughout our state and nation; and, 

WHEREAS, November 24 marks the third annual Small Business Saturday; and,

WHEREAS, according to a survey sponsored by the National Federation of Independent Business and American Express, nearly 70 percent of small businesses plan to offer special deals on Small Business Saturday; and,

WHEREAS, on this day, we join with the National Federation of Independent Business of Michigan to encourage citizens of the Great Lakes State to support small businesses and their communities by buying local and participating in Small Business Saturday;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Rick Snyder, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim Saturday, November 24, 2012 as Small Business Saturday in Michigan.
