Who will wear the tie?

Governor Snyder and Lt. Governor Calley bet on MSU and U of M game

Friday, Oct. 16, 2015

Governor Rick Snyder and Lt. Governor Brian Calley don’t often wear ties.

But if the University of Michigan’s football team defeats Michigan State University’s football team, Lt. Governor Calley has to wear a Maize and Blue tie for one day next week.  However, if the Spartans win, Governor Snyder will have to wear a green and white tie.

This is the first time in the administration that the Governor and Lt. Governor have challenged each other to a bet during the big rivalry game.

Governor Snyder attended U of M and received three degrees by age 23.  Lt. Governor Calley attended Michigan State University as an undergrad, and received two additional degrees from Grand Valley State University and Harvard University.

Check back on the reinvention blog to see either Governor Snyder or Lt. Governor Calley wearing the other school’s colors next week!

UPDATE (10/21/15): After the Michigan State Spartans defeated the Michigan Wolverines 27-23 on Saturday, Governor Snyder honored his rivalry game bet with Lt. Governor Calley and wore an MSU tie to work on Wednesday, October 21.
