Task Force on the Prevention of Sexual Abuse of Children
The Task Force on the Prevention of Sexual Abuse of Children was established in accordance with "Erin's Law", Public Act 593 of 2012, which aims to protect against the sexual abuse of children. Public Act 593 creates this one-time task force to provide recommendations for reducing child sexual abuse. These recommendations will help in the creation of future goals and guidelines for state and school policies. Once the members of this task force are appointed, they will have 365 days to submit their final recommendations to the Governor and Legislature. The Task Force will be comprised of a geographically diverse group of individuals.
Appointments to the Task Force are forthcoming and members will include: individuals who have experience and expertise in the fields of intervention and prevention of child abuse; a representative from the Michigan coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence; a representative from the Michigan Domestic and Sexual Violence Prevention and Treatment Board; a representative from the Michigan chapter of the National Children's Alliance; an administrator or staff member of a child assessment Ccnter; a licensed therapist trained to counsel or treat child sexual abuse victims; a circuit court judge or his or her designee; and a school district board member, intermediate school district board member, or public school academy board member.
