Efficient, Effective and Accountable Government

Michigan’s government is efficient, effective and affordable.

A smart, balanced budget that pays off the state’s debt and puts money away in a savings account is how the state can be debt-free in about 20 years. Addressing an imbalance in the state’s tax refund system between the General Fund and the School Aid Fund will ensure that money is withdrawn from the same funds it is deposited into.

Eliminating needless regulations and using technology to provide better customer service will make state government a partner for Michiganders looking for success in their personal and professional lives.

Gov. Snyder’s Responsible Retirement Reform for Local Government Task Force released a report of recommendations to address a long-standing problem in Michigan with unfunded legacy costs in local government budgets. The proposals are focused on addressing Michigan's mounting local pension and health care costs, ensuring retiree support, and providing more financial stability and the effective delivery of local government services.
