The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is investing about $2 million to repair 5.3 miles of US-41 from south of 6th Street in Chassell to north of Denton Road and from east of Isle Royale Street to Bridge Street in the city of Houghton, Houghton County. The project includes milling and resurfacing, pavement repairs, culvert replacement, concrete curb and gutter repairs, joint repairs, aggregate shoulders, minor drainage improvements, upgrading concrete sidewalk ramps to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards, and pavement markings. This project includes a three-year materials and workmanship pavement warranty.

The work will require single-lane closures. One alternating lane will be open via traffic regulators; temporary signals will be in place at the culvert locations.
This project will result in a smoother driving surface and increased safety, and will extend the lifespan of the roadway. ADA-compliant ramps make sidewalks safer for all users.
