M-21/Carl Drive intersection work starts Monday

PROJECT DETAILS:
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is investing approximately $426,000 to modify the M-21/Carl Drive intersection and install indirect left-turns. The Carl Drive crossover will be removed, the Spaulding Avenue crossover to the west will be modified, and a new crossover will be constructed to the east of Carl Drive. The project also includes left-turn lane extension, new curb and gutter, and pavement markings.

TRAFFIC IMPACT:
Lane closures and traffic shifts will be in effect on M-21. The crossovers at Carl Drive and Spaulding Avenue will be closed at separate times.  

SAFETY BENEFITS:
Removing the crossover and creating indirect left turns eliminates conflict points, improves traffic flow and increases safety.
