The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) issues permits for all trucks and trailers hauling oversized/overweight loads.
An oversize/overweight transport permit is issued for the movement of oversize/overweight loads that cannot be readily dismantled or otherwise arranged to become legal dimensions and/or legal weight in order to travel legally on State highways. Legal dimensions and weights may be found on Form T-1.
Applications for these permits are submitted and paid for online through the MDOT Permit Gateway.
