Important Message Regarding Dealer Training

In accordance with Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services' recommendations designed to help prevent the spread of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), all in person training events currently scheduled have been moved to a virtual setting utilizing the Microsoft Teams Live platform.

The Michigan Department of State is offering training through Microsoft Teams Live to assist all classes of licensed vehicle dealers and their staff on the basic requirements of the Michigan Vehicle Code. There are no course registration fees.

  • Pre-registration is required. Registration is first come, first serve. Log into your dealer account on CARS e-Services under 'Dealer Services.'

  • Who should attend?

    • Any class A, B, C, D, E, F, G, R, or W dealership may attend full-day trainings.

    • Dealership owners, managers, sales and office staff that handle paperwork.

      Continuous Education Dealer Training can be registered through your CARS eServices account.  You must login to eServices to sign up for training.  Only the training dates with available slots will be visible.  Once you are registered, you will receive a confirmation email with the date and time of the training session.  You will also receive a reminder e-mail in the week leading up to the training session with the instructions on how to access the training, the training materials, and the proper link to log into the training.  Please contact the Business Regulation Section with any issues you have registering for training at

      All Pre-license Trainings will be conducted through Microsoft Teams Live.  In order to register, please call or email the Business Regulation Section with the name(s) of all owner(s)/officers(s), the dealership name, the dealership location, contact information, and the date you would like to attend.  An email address is necessary to attend the pre-license training program. 

      You will receive an email approximately 3 days prior to the date you are registered with instructions on how to access the training event, training materials, and the proper link to log into the training
