Secretary Johnson issues statement on State of the State address

JANUARY 19, 2011

Michigan Secretary of State Ruth Johnson tonight released the following statement about Gov. Rick Snyder's State of the State address:

"Gov. Snyder tonight offered a sober assessment of the challenges we all face here in Michigan, but with something we haven't seen in a long time -- concrete performance measures which demand action, demand change in business as usual and most importantly, demand transparency and accountability from government.

From removing antiquated laws off the books to improving customer service and embracing new technologies, we will do all we can in the Department of State to join the Governor in his fight to reform state government and make Michigan a better place to live and work. I look forward to working with Gov. Snyder and his leadership team to assist him in his plan to reinvent Michigan."
