Mobile office visit is part of several college stops this fall to offer students
voter registration and additional Secretary of State services
ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Secretary of State's Mobile Office will be available for business from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday at Oakland University, Secretary of State Ruth Johnson announced today.
"We're pleased to be at Oakland University to offer our services to students, faculty, staff and residents," said Johnson. "This is a great opportunity to register to vote, renew your license plate tabs, sign up to be an organ donor and much more. Stop by and take care of business without having to leave campus."
The full-service branch will offer all transactions currently available in a standard branch office. It will be located in the Oakland Center in the end lounge next to Grizz Express.
"My goal is to engage students in the political process and one of the most effective ways to do this is through voting," said Michelle Alwardt, Oakland University student congress- legislative affairs director. "Having the Mobile Secretary of State Office allows students to register in person on campus, which allows them to vote absentee their first election. With students' busy schedules, we continue to look for creative and convenient ways to allow them to be more involved in government."
Johnson said the visit will also be used to highlight the Secretary of State's online services at ExpressSOS.com, which features the most popular Secretary of State services.
