New office to benefit customers, staff with improved features

MOUNT MORRIS, Mich. – The Secretary of State office in Mount Morris will close at the end of the month and move to a new location in Clio that features customer-friendly upgrades, Secretary of State Ruth Johnson announced today.

Customers and staff will benefit from improvements that include a larger lobby, public restrooms, drinking fountains, power assist entry doors, new counters, new paint and carpeting and 24-hour access to a Self-Service Station, which provides a convenient option for customers renewing their license plate tabs.

The office at 11960 Saginaw St. in Mount Morris will be closed as of Monday, Sept. 30, and will reopen at 9 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 7, at 4270 W. Vienna Road (M-57) in Clio, about 8 miles away. It is conveniently located one block east of I-75 in the Kmart Plaza.

Office hours remain unchanged: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

"The features of this new office are part of our commitment to continuously improving and providing convenient customer service while being efficient with taxpayer dollars," Johnson said.

"Area residents can now do many transactions with us online at but when they do visit, they can enjoy the benefits of this office."

People who need to renew license plates, driver's licenses and ID cards or change their address can do business online at or by mail. Easy-to-follow instructions can be found with the renewal notice. Additional services can be done online as well.

Those who need to visit a Secretary of State office for services during the relocation have several alternatives to the Mount Morris office:

The Davison and Saginaw South offices are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; and from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday. The Flint Downtown office is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Lapeer County PLUS Office and Flint Area SUPER!Center are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, and the SUPER!Center also has Saturday hours from 9 a.m. to noon.
