DETROIT, Mich. – The Secretary of State Mobile Office will showcase the latest in customer service technology as well as offer full branch services at the Detroit Boat Show, Secretary of State Ruth Johnson announced today.
"Stop by our booth and sign up for email and text reminders for renewing your license plate tabs, so you'll never have to come in on your birthday to take care of last-minute business," Johnson said. "And while you're here, you can renew your driver's license or watercraft registration, get a duplicate title, or take care of any other business you have at our Mobile Office. Our friendly staff will make it easy."
Customers can also sign up for "It's time to vote!" text or email reminders.
The Mobile Office will be open during the show's public days, which run Feb. 15 through Feb. 23 at Cobo Center, 1 Washington Blvd. in Detroit.
Watercraft registration renewal notices are also mailed out in March by the Secretary of State's office.
"It promises to be a good year for boating," said Nicki Polan, executive director of the Michigan Boating Industries Association. "For a second year, Michigan has outpaced the country with a 42 percent increase in boat, motor, trailer and accessories sales. This year's Detroit Boat Show is featuring more than 30 new models."
Polan said Michigan's new Sales Tax on the Difference Law is expected to boost attendance and sales. The new law exempts the value of a trade-in from the taxable purchase price of a new car, boat or RV.
The Mobile Office will be open during the show's public days. Show hours are as follows:
