Sec. Johnson: New locator part of our efforts to use latest tech

LANSING, Mich. – Secretary of State Ruth Johnson today announced her most recent effort to better serve customers with a newly upgraded Branch Office Locator that now features the latest online mapping technology.

“My goal as your secretary of state is to provide the best customer service using the latest technology,” Johnson said. “Our new Branch Office Locator uses modern online mapping technology to allow you to more easily find an office near you. While most of our most popular services can be done through the mail or online at www.ExpressSOS.com, the new locator is ready to serve you if you do need to visit an office.”

The new Branch Office Locator now features cutting-edge Web-based mapping so it can provide personalized directions to an office from a customer’s location and it’s now optimized for mobile devices. It also allows customizable searches for services, such as offices with Saturday hours, Self-Service Stations open 24 hours a day for convenient license plate tab renewals and offices that feature the revolutionary get-in-line-online MI-TIME Line service. Customers can get in line at select MI-TIME Line offices from the locator.

The office locator draws more than 2 million visitors a year.

Because of the expanded online services offered at www.ExpressSOS.com and the services that can be done by mail, most customers don’t need to visit a Secretary of State office in person except for once every eight years to get a new driver’s license photo. Customers who do need to visit an office are encouraged to check the Branch Office Locator before they go.

The updated office locator isn’t the only way customers can conveniently find Secretary of State office locations and hours though. Johnson had staff add Secretary of State office locations and hours of operation to Google Maps so Michigan residents can more easily find office locations when using mobile devices and Internet searches. Plus, the state of Michigan offers the MiPage mobile application for smart devices that not only allows map-based searches for Secretary of State offices, state parks and other government office locations, but also lists other state of Michigan mobile apps, and upcoming events, such as local festivals and art exhibits.

The MiPage app was created by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget and is available on both the App Store for iOS devices and Google Play for Android devices.

In addition to online branch office locators, customers can call (888) SOS-MICH; 767-6424 to find area offices.
