Visitors can apply for identification cards, driver’s licenses
The Secretary of State Mobile Office will offer people the opportunity to apply for identification cards and driver’s licenses at the Veteran Friendly Expo and Job Fair Saturday, Nov. 18, Secretary of State Ruth Johnson announced today.
The event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Karl Richter Community Center, 300 East Street in Holly, and is being hosted by the Holly Area Veterans Resource Center.
“We’re pleased to be able to bring our services directly to veterans so that they can apply for a driver’s license or identification card right on the spot,” Johnson said.
The event is free and open to the public. Organizers expect veteran-friendly services to be available in health, finances, home improvement, education, jobs and other areas.
Johnson, co-founder of Operation: Our Troops Count, has made assisting Michigan’s more than 660,000 veterans a priority for her office. The department now offers a special veteran’s designation on driver’s licenses to make it easier to access benefits.
