Marquette SOS office to relocate, will close June 11-15

Office NoticesJUNE 5, 2018

The Marquette County PLUS Secretary of State office in Marquette will be closed next week as it moves to a new location but customers can hop online to instead, Secretary of State Ruth Johnson announced today.

The Secretary of State office at 2025 W. US-41 will close as of Monday, June 11, and will reopen at 9 a.m. on Monday, June 18, about a mile to the southeast at 1250 Wilson Street, Suite 103.

Customers and staff will benefit from the customer-friendly upgrades that include a new facility with easier access, updated technology to speed transactions, on-site public restrooms and safety upgrades including power-assist door openers. The project also includes the installation of the MI-TIME Line system, which allows customers to make appointments or get in line online or by kiosk so they can avoid waiting in the office.

Office hours remain unchanged: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

“The features that this relocation project will bring are part of our commitment to continuously improving and providing convenient customer service while being efficient with taxpayer dollars,” Johnson said. “Area residents now can do many transactions with us by hopping online at but when they do visit, they can enjoy the benefits of a new office in Marquette.”

The ExpressSOS website allows customers to renew their tabs and driver’s licenses, get a duplicate registration or title, change their address and register to be an organ donor. And with its Print ’N Go feature, customers can renew their driver’s licenses and tabs for their vehicles, motorcycles or boats, print their receipt and drive legally until they get their card or sticker in the mail. On their eighth year, customers do need to visit an office to get a new driver’s license so they can pass a vision test and get an updated photo.
