Customers urged to hop online to instead

The S.E. Wayne County PLUS Secretary of State office in Taylor will close for a week later this month due to a remodeling project, but customers can hop online to instead, Secretary of State Ruth Johnson said today.

The office at 21572 Ecorse Road will not open on Monday, June 25 and will resume normal service at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 2.

Customers and staff will benefit from renovations that include new data lines to speed transactions, a reconfigured counter design, the addition of an accessible work station for persons with disabilities and an improved drop box for auto dealer transactions.

“The features that this remodeling project will bring are part of our commitment to continuously improving and providing convenient customer service while being efficient with taxpayer dollars,” Johnson said. “Area residents now can do many transactions with us by hopping online at but when they do need to visit, they can enjoy the benefits of an updated office in Taylor.”

The ExpressSOS website allows customers to renew their tabs and driver’s licenses, get a duplicate registration or title, change their address and register to be an organ donor. And with its Print ’N Go feature, customers can renew their driver’s licenses and tabs for their vehicles, motorcycles or boats, print their receipt and drive legally until they get their card or sticker in the mail. On their eighth year, customers do need to visit an office to get a new driver’s license so they can pass a vision test and get an updated photo.
