Secretary Johnson applauds governor and legislators for online voter registration law

NOVEMBER 15, 2018

Secretary of State Ruth Johnson today made the following statement regarding the governor’s signing of legislation to create an online voter registration option for applicants:

“By allowing voter registration applications to be securely submitted electronically in Michigan, the governor and legislators have given citizens a convenient and secure option. I’m grateful to the supporters on both sides of the aisle who worked together to make this important measure a reality.”

Johnson has advocated for online voter registration for a number of years. The Michigan Secretary of State was named best in the nation among motor vehicle offices for registering eligible people to vote.
