Secretary Benson and clerks discuss safe voting on Election Day

Ready for November Video SeriesOCTOBER 27, 2020

Final "Ready for November" episode focuses on in-person voting on Nov. 3

Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson interviews two of Michigan’s leading clerks in the seventh and final episode of Ready for November, a video series Benson’s office launched last month to inform voters ahead of the Nov. 3 general election.

Joining Benson for the “Safe Voting on Election Day” discussion were Jackie Beaudry, who has been Ann Arbor’s city clerk since 2005 and was Michigan’s city clerk of the year in 2019; and Chris Swope, Lansing’s city clerk since 2005 and the current president of the Michigan Association of Municipal Clerks.

“As the pandemic continues and we head toward this monumental election in just a few days, there’s still so much uncertainty on so many levels but we want the voters to have the certainty and the clarity that you have options to vote this year and that all of them are safe for you to access,” Secretary Benson said.

“We encourage voters to wear a mask if they intend to show up to vote in person. You’ll certainly be met with election workers wearing masks, gloves and having social distancing guidelines in place to protect everyone’s health.”
