How do I learn more about the Michigan Election canvassing process?

Results posted on this website are reported by each of Michigan’s 83 counties once election officials complete the count of all of the absentee and Election Day ballots cast in that county. The upper-left corner of the website indicates the number of counties reporting (“Counties: __/83”).

Please note, the results posted on this website on Election Night are unofficial and are audited during the 2-week post-election county canvass. Local election officials review the poll book, list of voters and vote totals for each precinct and provide periodic updates as necessary. Accordingly, Election Night totals presented here are subject to change during this verification process.

The results are finalized when the Board of State Canvassers certifies the election approximately 3 weeks after Election Day. The upper-left corner of the results screen indicates whether they are “official” or “unofficial” (“Type: General, Official” or “Type: General, Unofficial”), as well as the date and time of the most recent update.
