What should I do if my expired SOS credential is currently extended under the current executive order, but I cannot get an appointment before Sept. 30?

Please try renewing your credential online at Michigan.gov/SOS. Those who are unable to renew online may attempt to make a next-day appointment at Michigan.gov/SOS for any Secretary of State branch office. Next-day appointments are offered between 9-11 a.m. and 3-4 p.m. Morning appointments become available the previous day at 8 a.m. and afternoon appointments become available the previous day at noon.

Additionally, from Monday, Aug. 24, through Wednesday, Sept. 30, all Secretary of State branch offices will extend hours until 7 p.m. to offer special appointments for Michigan residents to renew driver’s licenses or state ID cards that expire between Jan. 1, 2020, and  Oct. 31, 2020, and require a branch visit.

Customers with driver’s licenses or state ID cards that meet that criteria can schedule an  appointment between 4 and 7 p.m. Monday through Friday from Aug. 24 through Sept. 30, 2020. To make an appointment, visit Michigan.gov/SOSAppointments or call 888-SOS-MICH (767-6424).
