Will the reopening of branch offices impact the REAL ID compliance deadline?

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has extended the deadline for REAL ID compliance by one year, until Oct. 1, 2021, to protect public health by reducing the need for in-person visits to motor vehicle agencies.

If an individual must complete a driver’s license or state ID transaction in person at a Secretary of State branch office and would also like to apply to convert their driver's license to a REAL ID, they may do so at the time of their appointment.
