Is virtual driver's education classroom learning permitted?

The Michigan Department of State has granted permission to driver’s education providers to temporarily offer virtual classroom instruction while the risk of COVID-19 is still prevalent. Providers who are eligible to offer virtual driver’s education classroom learning must also conduct in-person behind-the-wheel training for all students enrolled in the virtual course.

Students and their parents are advised to contact their driver education course instructor for additional information. For information on guidelines and instruction, eligible providers may contact the Michigan Department of State Driver Education and Testing Section.
