How is the state ensuring the security of same-day voter registration?

With the passage of Proposal 18-3 in 2018, those who wish to register or update their voter registration information on the day of the General Election may do so up until 8 p.m. at their city or township clerk’s office. Citizens must provide proof of identity and Michigan residency by providing a official documents with their current name and address.

Registration on the day of the General Election is not permitted for individuals who are under the age of 18 or non-citizens. Those who attempt to violate this can face significant penalty in a court of law.
