Renewal by Mail

Renewing by mail is quick, easy, and offers the following options:  Image of envelope with wings

  • You can pay by check or money order.

  • You can change the address on your registration.

  • You can have us mail the renewal to a temporary address.

The back page of the renewal notice you received in the mail for your driver’s license, ID or vehicle will indicate if you are eligible to renew by mail.

Check to make sure that the owner vehicle information is correct on each renewal notice. (If not, you will need to renew at a Secretary of State branch office.)

If you need to change the address on the registration, check "yes" for a change of address on the front of the renewal notice and write your new address on the back of the form in the space provided. This will alert the Michigan Department of State to correct the address when renewing your registration. If you are away from home and want your registration mailed to you, print the address on the back of the renewal notice and specify that it is a temporary mailing address only.

Payment can be made by check or money order made payable to the State of Michigan. 

Remove the renewal notice along the perforated line and place it in the enclosed, addressed envelope along with proof of Michigan no-fault insurance and payment, or you may mail your renewal to:
