Michigan is proud to recognize its men and women who earned the Iraq campaign medal while serving in the U.S. military during the Iraq Conflict (which began on March 20, 2003) with a special veteran plate. The Iraq Campaign Medal Veteran plate is available to Iraq veterans who received the campaign medal and their spouses in the standard design (shown on this page).
The fee is $5. If you are purchasing an original plate or replacing an existing plate when renewing, other registration fees may apply. You may also personalize your veteran plate for an additional fee.
Veteran plates can only be used on passenger cars, pickup trucks, vans and motor homes. Motorcycles, trailers and vehicles used commercially are not eligible.
Veterans and their spouses interested in obtaining the Iraq Campaign Medal Veteran plate may apply at their local Secretary of State office or by mailing in a completed Application for Veteran License Plate. The Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty form (DD-214) indicating a medal award must be presented when applying for the Iraq Campaign Medal Veteran plate.
Note: Veterans who served in the Iraq conflict but were not issued the Iraq campaign medal are eligible for the Iraq Conflict Veteran plate.
