Special license plates are available for members of the following nonprofit fraternal and public service organizations: Michigan Professional Firefighters Union, Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons, Michigan State Firemen's Association, Fraternal Order of Police and the Police Officers Association of Michigan.
Proof of membership in the fraternal or public service organization is required when submitting an order form. Acceptable proof of membership includes your official membership card or a verification letter from the organization. More information is available on the order form.
There is a $25 service fee when ordering a special nonprofit fraternal or public service organization plate. If you are purchasing a plate when renewing your vehicle, your regular registration fee will be due in addition to the $25 service fee.
These plates will expire on your birthday. There is no service fee to renew a fraternal or public service organization plate. Proof of membership is not required when renewing.
A disability version is available to eligible applicants. A red disability sticker is issued for the plate.
These plates may be used on a passenger vehicle, motor home, pickup or van. Commercial vehicles are not eligible.
