If I built a home which was completed part way through the year, what portion of the taxes levied may I claim?
If you built your home, you may use the taxes levied shown on the summer and winter property tax statements in the year of claim. Do not include special assessments. Prorate taxes based on the number of days you owned and occupied the home by completing part 3 of the MI-1040CR.
Note: In the year the construction of your home is completed, the taxes levied would be based on the taxable value of the land only. The following calendar year, the taxes would be based upon the taxable value of the land and the home.
