Michelle Cordano is a Talent Development Liaison for the State of Michigan’s Talent Investment Agency. In this role, she is responsible for engaging employers and educators to comprehensively address talent needs to focus on mid- and long-term development skill gaps in key industries in each region statewide. She serves as TIA’s point of contact in the Information Technology sector and is the representative for Regions 5 and 6.
Cordano has over 6 years of experience building, supporting and championing strategic partnerships between employers, workforce development professionals, educators, and other key stakeholders. Recently, Michelle played a key role in the implementation of the Marshall Plan for Talent (MPT) innovation grants, including planning and coordinating 18 MPT events across the state. The MPT was a $100 million grant aimed at creating and/or expanding innovative solutions that prepare our K-12 student for the jobs of today and tomorrow.
Previously, Michelle served as the executive director of the Capital Area Manufacturing Council (CAMC), where she developed an organization from a handful of manufacturers, with a vision to build a strong business alliance into a collaborative of 49 organizations; who were engaged in activities designed to sustain a robust and enduring manufacturing community. In fact, CAMC was selected as a 2018 Michigan Works! Impact Award winner for the advancement of strategic partnerships and collaboration to raise the awareness of skilled trades and the manufacturing jobs available to students and graduates.
Cordano has a bachelor's degree in Business Marketing from the University of Phoenix. She is a certified Business Services Professional and a graduate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation Talent Pipeline ManagementTM Academy.
