Michigan Strategic Fund Board of Directors

The MSF was created by P.A. 270 of 1984 and has broad authority to promote economic development and create jobs. The 11-member MSF board has statutory authority to direct state appropriations to support business development, community development, talent enhancement and state marketing activities, including the promotion of tourism, film industry, arts and cultural affairs.
 
Executive Order No. 2019-13 abolished the Michigan Strategic Fund Board of Directors created under section V.A of Executive Order 2014-12, MCL 125.1995, and transferred its powers, duties, functions, and responsibilities to a new board of directors of the Michigan Strategic Fund. 
 
The Board consists of 11 members:
  • The Director of the Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity or the Director’s designee from within the Department.
  • The State Treasurer, or the State Treasurer’s designee from within the Department of Treasury.
  • The Director of the Department of Transportation or the Director’s designee from within the Department of Transportation.
  • The Chief Executive Officer of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, or the Chief Executive Officer’s designee.
  • Seven residents of this state appointed by the Governor, subject to advice and consent of the Senate. After the initial appointments, appointees serve 4-year terms.
