Hispanic/Latino Commission of Michigan

The purpose of the Hispanic/Latino Commission of Michigan is to develop a unified policy and plan of action to serve the needs of Michigan's Hispanic and Latino people. The Commission strives to market the state's career development services to Michigan Hispanics, encourage initiatives to reduce the high school dropout rates of Hispanic youth, and facilitate efforts to increase the enrollment of Hispanics in postsecondary education and training programs. The law directs the Commission to advise the Governor, the Legislature, and the office concerning the coordination and administration of state programs serving the Hispanic and Latino population.

The Commission consists of 15 members, all of whom should broadly represent the interests of the Hispanic and Latino populations throughout the state. Appointments are for 3-year terms and are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
