Michigan Trails Advisory Council
The purpose of the Michigan Trails Advisory Council (MTAC) is to advise the Director of the DNRE and the Governor on the creation, development, operation, and maintenance of motorized and non-motorized trails in the state, including, but not limited to, snowmobile, biking, equestrian, hiking, off-road vehicle, and skiing trails.
The Advisory Council consists of 11 members: no fewer than 5 owners of a registered ORV or snowmobile, no fewer than 3 owners of a registered snowmobile, no fewer than 1 who has experience in a snowmobile safety education and training program or ORV safety education course, no fewer than 1 who is a resident of the Upper Peninsula, and no fewer than 2 members of the equine trailways subcommittee. Advisory Council members serve 4 year terms.
